PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
(past pörfekt kontinyus tens)

 

Türkçe’de anlamı –mekteydi, -maktaydı’ dır ve Geçmişte bir şeyin ne kadar zaman sürmüş olduğunu ifade etmek için Past Perfect Continuous Tense’i kullanırız.

Cümle yapısı:

Olumlu cümle yapısı : Subject+ had been+Verb-ing

Olumsuz cümle yapısı: Subject+ hadn’t been (had not been)+Verb-ing

Soru cümlesi yapısı: Had+subject+been+verb-ing?

 

We  had been expecting her news for sometime. (Biz bazen ondan haber beklemekteydik.) (vi hed biin ekspekting hör nivs for samtaym.)

I had been wearing high-heeled shoes and my feet hurt.(Yüksek  topuklu ayakkabı giymekteydim ve ayaklarım acıdı.) (ay hed biin viring hay-hiild şuuz end may fiit hört.)

He was arrested, even though he hadn’t been doing anything wrong. (Hiçbirşeyi yanlış yapmamasına rağmen,onu tutukladılar.) (h ivaz ırestıd, ivın doğ hi hedınt biin doing eniting rong.)

Had she been suffering from the flu? (O,gripten mi ızdırap çekmekteydi? ) (hed şi biin safırring fırom dı fulu?)

-No,she hadn’t been suffering from the flu.(Hayır, o gripten ızdırap çekmemekteydi.) (no,şi hedınt biin saffıring fırom dı fulu.)

My dad had been finishing some work in the garden and hadn’t seen I come home.(Babam bahçede bazı işler yapmaktaydı ve benim geldiğimi görmedi.) (may ded hed biin finishing sam vörk in dı gardın end hedınt siin ay kam hom.)

He had been saving money since Christmas to buy a new canoe.(Noelden beri yeni bir kano almak için para biriktirmeyteydi.) (hi hed biin seving mani sins kıristmıs tu bay e niv kınu.)

They had been working hard, so they had felt that they deserved a holiday.(Çok sıkı çalışıyorlardı bu yüzden bir tatile ihtiyacı olduklarını düşündüler.) (dey hed biin vörking hard,so dey hed felt det dey dizörvd e holidey.)

I had been travelling for about 18 hours. (18 saatten beri seyahat etmekteydim.) (ay hed biin tıraveling for ebaut eyttiin haurs.)

She has been looking at the painting for about 10 minutes before she realised who the artist was. (Sanatçının kim olduğunu anlamadan önce 10 dakika kadar tabloya bakmaktaydı.) (şi hez biin luking et dı peinting for ebaut ten minits bifor şi rielayzd hu dı artist vaz.)

When I got home water had been leaking through the sink.(Eve geldiğim zaman su lavabodan sızmaktaydı.) (ven ay gat hom votır hed biin liking tırov dı sink.)
